Woods I / Intro to Building Trades
Students will complete two projects during this class. The first, a cutting board or sign, is designed to familiarize students with machines, learn essential procedures and review measurement. The student will then choose a project to complete the rest of the semester. Typical projects are tables, mirror frames, and night stands.
Course Fees
Students are assessed a $20 fee at registration. The registration fee covers the first project and consumables like stain, glue, screws, sandpaper, etc. The cost of the second project varies. Students will be notified of the cost for each project and then they can choose one. However, it is important to understand ALL students will have the opportunity to build one of the projects. Occasionally difficulties arise regarding payment. No one will be denied the opportunity to build a project, but this must be communicated privately BEFORE beginning a project so a plan may be created.

Millwork and Cabinetry II
Students will choose a project that allows them to learn the basics of face frame cabinetry. They will also learn raised panel door and drawer construction and installation. Common projects include desks, TV stands, and small entertainment centers. Lab fee for this class is the cost of materials.
Advanced Millwork and Cabinetry
Students are encouraged to design their own projects using sound design principles. Projects should serve a purpose in their own homes as well as being universally functional. Most projects at this level are unique. Students are frequently required to problem solve and evaluate different construction methods. Lab fee for this class is the cost of materials.
